A crash in Miami-Dade left one person dead and three others injured, according to a report from July 13. An elderly woman passed away from her injuries, while several others had to be treated for injuries following the car accident. This crash happened when one driver failed to stop at a red light.
Failing to stop is sometimes construed as negligence, and if you’ve been hurt by someone who wasn’t paying attention, you deserve to be compensated for your pain and suffering as well as ongoing medical needs or costs associated with missing work. In this crash, a 40-year-old driver was heading west on SR 997 when he failed to stop when he came to a red light on SR 25. That resulted in him hitting a Chevy Equinox being driven by a 66-year-old man. The 40-year-old man’s car was struck on the passenger side, and that resulted in the 81-year-old woman being killed. It wasn’t mentioned if the 81-year-old was related to the driver or other passenger. The 40-year-old and a 43-year-old passenger were taken to Kendall Regional Hospital with minor injuries that required treatment.
In the other vehicle, the 66-year-old man suffered from minor injuries in the crash. His passenger, a 61-year-old, reportedly suffered from serious injuries that needed medical attention. They also had two children, ages 4 and 7, in the car, but neither were hurt. The 66- and 61-year-old were taken to JMH Ryder for treatment.
