Florida Car Accident Leaves Van Hanging Over 150 Foot Bank

A car accident that occurred outside of Orlando, Florida, in Oviedo left one dead and five others injured. The incident occurred early this morning and halted traffic for the next four hours.

Any type of motor vehicle accident can result in serious injuries, both to people in the vehicles as well as to the vehicles themselves. Accidents can be caused by many things from a driver being distracted by a text or an intoxicated driver. The Oviedo crash is still under investigation to determine whether the driver who caused the crash was either speeding or under the influence.

According to the report, police were informed that there was a car driving on the wrong side of a toll road. Minutes later it crashed into a van that was traveling in the right direction. The van had five people in it, including three children.

The van was hit with such force that it went flying partially over a railing on the side of the road. There the van perched over a 150 foot drop while responders rescued the people inside. All five were extracted and brought to the hospital, the status of their injuries unknown.

The driver of the vehicle traveling the wrong way was killed in the crash. Investigators believe that the driver was unable to react because it had just come over the top of a hill. They are still not sure how the driver ended up on the wrong side of the road.

If it is determined that the driver who caused the crash was reckless or negligent behind the wheel, the people and children who were injured in the crash may be able to file a claim for compensation. The compensation could help pay medical bills and cover lost wages.
