United States moves to protect transgender immigrants from abuse

The United States will honor transgender immigrants with the right to be housed in either male or female designated illegal immigrant detention centers. The decision comes after news has surfaced about numerous cases of sexual abuse and physical abuse against transgender detainees. Transgender immigrants will now be permitted to choose which facilities they will live in based on their gender identity.

Ways that patients can help prevent medical errors

Florida patients should be aware of options available to them to help reduce the risk of medical errors and complications arising from malpractice. The federal government says hospitals and health care providers generally are performing better than ever before, but there are still more than 400,000 people that die each year due to preventable hospital errors . Engaged patients tend to be more satisfied with the quality of care they receive and less likely to manifest hospital-related medical problems later.

What is an investor visa?

There are a lot of different ways for immigrants to obtain a visa to reside in the United States and one of the more popular ones is called an investor visa. Immigrants who apply for investor visas or E5 visas, are commonly referred to as immigrant investors or immigrant entrepreneurs.

Get compensated after product defects injure you

Getting hurt because of a manufacturing issue isn't something most people expect to have happen to them. Manufacturing issues can cause all kinds of problems, from an oven overheating and exploding to a car's wheel coming loose on a quick turn. Weakly produced toys could have loose parts that could result in choking, and furniture could collapse. These are all types of incidents you hear about, but when they happen to you, the pain and frustration of the situation becomes much clearer.

What are the motorcyclist crash statistics for Florida?

Florida is home to sunny days and warm evenings, which is part of the reason why motorcyclists love to go to the state. There are interesting motorcycling events and groups that travel to the area to enjoy the beautiful beaches and scenery.

Local minimum numbers for immigration arrests

Did you know that the government not only expects to hold a large amount of detainees behind bars due to immigration arrests, but that there are actual minimum guarantees that they strive to meet? On the federal level, or the nation-wide level, that number is 34,000 individuals. That is how many people the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- commonly known as ICE -- has to keep locked up every single day. This is mandated by the U.S. Congress, and it has been now since 2009.

Brain injuries occurring without concussions or major blows

Many Florida residents realize that a major blow to the head requires careful monitoring to ensure that there aren't signs of a concussion. However, dizziness and headaches in the absence of any obvious head injuries could be confusing. In such cases, brain injury might not be immediately obvious. However, it is estimated that four of every five traumatic brain injuries occur without concussions. Mild symptoms should not be ignored because they could be attributed to brain injury that has occurred due to brain inertia.

Diagnosis of gynecological cancer

For most women in Florida, the thought of being diagnosed with gynecological cancer is scary. However, it is important to know that cancers that develop in a woman's reproductive organs are rare, and most can be easily treated if they are caught at an early stage. Once a gynecological cancer is identified, it is important for a woman to be treated by a specialist, as general gynecologists and obstetricians are not trained to treat cancer.

Seeking residency and citizenship by way of a family member

When an immigrant hopes to become a United States citizen, there are a wide variety of visa types to choose from, but only certain pathways might apply to a particular person's needs. One of the most common pathways to citizenship and/or permanent residency is to obtain a visa based on the legal status of a family member who has already obtained his or her U.S. citizenship.

1 dead, 2 injured in Rockview, Florida, motorcycle accident

As a motorcyclist, you're careful when you're on the roads. You take the highway like other vehicles, traveling at high speeds appropriate to the area. You have to watch for potholes, gravel, and other issues on the road as well as for other drivers, and that can be difficult. Even one misstep from another driver can lead to your colliding with their vehicle without time to change your course on the highway.

C-sections and breech births

Many Florida mothers-to-be wish to deliver their children as naturally as possible. This often means having a vaginal birth. However, there are certain instances where the child may be in a breech position when the time comes, which could result in serious injuries to both the mother and child.
