In Miami, it’s not uncommon to find yourself stuck in traffic due to car accidents, and most people are used to hearing about accidents on a day-to-day basis. If you’ve been hurt or know someone who has been hurt in a car accident, though, you know how quickly that accident can lead to injuries and mental trauma that can last for years to come. In this case, a car crash left two people with serious injuries and a third with minor injuries and a car that was totaled.
According to the March 23 news, a pair of people accused of stealing a car in Miami Beach crashed on the 79th Street Causeway. This crash seriously injured the driver and his passenger, and both had to be airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center for their wounds. However, the victim of this accident, a man in a 1988 Mitsubishi Starion, is simply lucky to be alive.
When his vehicle was struck from behind, it caused him to lose control of the vehicle. He spun out of control and struck a tree, according to the news, and that’s when his vehicle literally tore in half. The engine compartment was left on the median, and the other half of the vehicle ended up in the westbound lanes.
With debris all around and a serious accident to investigate, you wouldn’t have expected the man to have survived. Fortunately, he did and only with a few minor injuries including scratches and a bloody lip, according to police. In such cases as this where injuries result, the injured parties are often able to seek compensation for the their physical injuries as well as pain and suffering.
Currently, the news reports that the suspect driving the stolen vehicle has been charged for the accident. He now faces charges of driving with a suspended license, grand theft auto, causing bodily harm, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle without a license to do so.
