If you enjoy riding your motorcycle, this news about multiple riders being injured in a violent crash may be disturbing to you. According to the news about the motorcycle crashes in Southwest Miami-Dade County, six motorcyclists had to be taken to area hospitals when a van allegedly swerved into their lane and struck them. The Feb. 6 report claims that the three motorcycles carrying the passengers were struck along SW 100 Street and Krome Avenue.
The driver of the van claimed that he had been trying to brake to avoid hitting a car in front of him before the accident happened. He swerved to the left to avoid the vehicle, and that’s when he impacted the motorcyclists. News reports didn’t discuss the man’s condition following the accident.
Motorcycle accidents can leave riders with serious injuries like brain damage, broken bones, lacerations and other problems that can impact them for life. In this case, one of the bikes even burst into flames, which could have caused serious burns needing additional medical treatment. Because of severe injuries in this case, all passengers had to be taken to medical facilities for treatment.
Four of the patients from the accident were allegedly taken to the hospital as trauma alert patients, according to the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and it’s assumed that they were in critical or serious condition after the accidents. The classification as a trauma alert patient requires patients to be transported to specific trauma centers in Florida according to Florida laws and criteria.
Two other patients were taken to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center, according to the reports. Two additional people were taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center for the treatment of their injuries. The news wasn’t clear who the additional victims of the accident were.
