Man cycling for charity hit by tractor-trailer

A man who had been riding his bike to all 30 major league baseball stadiums this summer, including the two in Florida, was hit by a tractor-trailer on Saturday, Sept. 21. The 24-year-old man was riding to raise money for children with hearing loss who are not able to afford special implants. He had been born with normal hearing himself, but had been deaf since the age of 10.

The man was struck by the tractor-trailer in a rural part of Florida. The man had begun his bike ride on April 3 and had already visited 29 of the ballparks when the truck accident occurred. He said that he had less than four miles to go before reaching his hotel when he was struck by a tractor-trailer's mirror. He stated that he does not remember anything after that until he woke up at the hospital.

The man suffered a broken nose, a severe concussion, two cheekbone fractures and a chipped tooth. He was advised not to ride his bike after the accident, but he stated that he still plans on attending the next scheduled game. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not stop after the accident, and investigators believe that it was likely the driver was unaware of what had happened.

Someone who is injured in an accident involving a truck or other motor vehicle may wish to speak to an attorney with experience in handling personal injury matters. Such an attorney may be able to advise the client as to the alternatives available to obtain compensation for any damages that result from the accident.
